Webhooks
renuzy tells another tool the moment something happens: a member joins, pays, lapses, buys a ticket. Only an owner can add one.
A webhook is a web address belonging to another tool, such as a mailing list or a spreadsheet service. When something you choose happens in renuzy, renuzy sends that address a short message about it.
- Go to Connections (under More on a phone).
- Paste the address the other tool gave you, give it a name and tick what to send: a member joined, renewed or lapsed, a payment came in or was refunded, someone said they are coming to an event, a ticket was bought, a gift came in, a volunteer signed up.
- Press Add webhook. renuzy shows a signing secret once. Copy it into the other tool now.
renuzy looks for new happenings every five minutes. If the address does not answer, renuzy tries again after 1 minute, 5 minutes, half an hour, and then up to a day apart, eight tries in all. If every try fails for a whole day, renuzy turns the webhook off and emails the owners. Nothing is lost: what happened meanwhile goes out when you turn it back on.
Each webhook has a delivery log showing what was sent and what the address answered, and a button to send a test message.
What is sent
Only what the event needs: names, email, amounts, dates, the event or shift. Never card details, bank details, notes, addresses or anything about other members.
For whoever sets up the other tool
Each message is a JSON POST with the headers renuzy-event, renuzy-delivery and renuzy-signature: t=TIME,v1=SIGNATURE. The signature is the HMAC SHA256, in hex, of the time, a dot and the raw body, made with the signing secret. Recompute it and refuse messages more than five minutes old. Answer with any 2xx status. renuzy does not follow redirects.
