Paying for your chapters on one bill
A parent body can pay renuzy for its chapters on one bill, or let each chapter pay for itself. One bill prices all the chosen chapters' members together, plus a set price for each of the first 100 chapters, with 10% off when every chapter is on it.
A parent body, such as a federation, a state association or a grand lodge, pays for its chapters in one of two ways. You choose on your Plan page, and only an owner or treasurer can choose or change it.
The two ways to pay, and how to choose
- Each chapter pays for itself. This is how every body starts. Each chapter picks its own plan on the club price card and adds its own card, and your body pays $1 a month for each chapter using renuzy, the first ten free, never more than $490. A body in Australia pays A$1.50 a month for each chapter, the first ten free, never more than A$750, in Australian dollars. A chapter in Australia always pays for itself on the Australian card, even when its body is in the US.
- One bill. Your body pays renuzy for the chapters you pick. They pay renuzy nothing themselves and have every feature.
One bill suits a body that already pays for its chapters, or wants every chapter running without each one adding a card. Each chapter paying suits chapters that keep their own budgets. Who collects each chapter's dues is a separate choice and never changes the price, and renuzy takes no cut of dues either way.
Setting it up
- On your Plan page, under Or pay for every chapter on one bill, tick the chapters to put on it, or tick Every chapter, including chapters that join later. With that ticked, a chapter that joins your body later goes on the bill by itself. A chapter another body already pays for cannot be ticked.
- Choose Every month or Once a year.
- Press See the exact price. Nothing is charged on that step. It shows the bill line by line, what happens to each chapter's own plan, and the day of your first charge.
- With no card on file, press Pay with Stripe and enter the card on Stripe's page. Your chapters are covered once Stripe confirms it. With a card already on file, press Switch from and the date: the new bill starts at your next charge, on the same card, and nothing is charged today.
If the count changes between the price and the button, renuzy shows you the new price first and charges nothing.
The price
- Members: the active members of all the chapters on the bill, counted together with each household once, are priced on the club price card, the same plans a club is on. Twenty chapters of 100 members are priced as one club of 2,000.
- Chapters: $25 a month for each chapter, up to 100. Every chapter after the 100th is free, so this part is never more than $2,500 a month. A body in Australia pays A$35 a chapter, never more than A$3,500 a month, and its whole bill is in Australian dollars.
When every chapter using renuzy is on the bill, the whole bill is 10% off. Paying once a year is eleven months for twelve on both parts, and the 10% comes off that too. On today's card, 20 chapters of 100 members are $89 plus $500, less 10%: $530.10 a month, or $5,831.10 a year.
Your body's price card is locked on its first payment, and the members part is always priced from it. If your chapters have more members together than the largest plan on the card, write to hello@renuzy.com and the price is set with you.
When changes take effect
Nothing is prorated, refunded or charged in the middle of a period. Every change is priced from your next charge.
- The day before each charge renuzy counts again: the chapters on the bill, their active members, and whether every chapter using renuzy is on it. The bill for the coming period follows that count. When the price changes, renuzy emails you the new price and how it was worked out.
- A yearly bill is counted the day before the yearly charge, and renuzy emails you 35 days before it with the bill as counted that day.
- If the 10% stops because a chapter is not on the bill, renuzy emails you which chapters. Put them all on before the next count and the 10% comes back.
- Moving from monthly to yearly, or back, starts at your next charge.
Adding and removing chapters
Once your chapters are on one bill, tick or untick them under Chapters on the bill on your Plan page and press Save changes. Nothing is charged today.
- A chapter you add is covered from that moment and goes on your bill from your next charge.
- A chapter you take off stays covered to the end of the period you have paid for, then pays for its own plan from that day, and its officers are told. Tick it again before that day and it stays covered with nothing lost.
- A chapter that leaves your body comes off the bill the same way.
- Untick one chapter while every chapter is ticked and the boxes win: that chapter comes off, and the 10% goes with it.
What happens to a chapter's own plan
- No plan of its own: nothing to stop, and it goes on your bill from your next charge.
- Its own plan still in its free time: that plan is stopped, and nothing was charged.
- Its own plan already paid: the plan runs to the last day it paid for and does not renew, so it is never charged again. The chapter goes on your bill from your first charge on or after that day.
- Taken off before it was ever on your bill, while its own plan is still paid: its own plan carries on and renews as before.
A chapter is only ever paid for once. It cannot be on two bodies' bills, and a chapter still paying for its own plan is left off yours until that plan has ended. A chapter that goes back to paying for itself keeps whichever price card is lower for it, its own or yours.
What a chapter sees
A chapter on your bill sees Paid for by and your body's name on its Plan page. It pays renuzy nothing itself, everything is unlocked, and there is no plan for it to pick. Its members, its dues and the way its dues are collected stay as they are. Its owner and treasurer get an email when it goes on your bill, saying what happened to its own plan.
While a chapter is coming off, its Plan page says your body pays for its plan until the day its cover ends. From that day it pays for its own plan on its own price card, and it can pick a plan and add a card before then. Nothing is charged before that day.
Stopping
To go back to each chapter paying for itself, press Let each chapter pay for itself from and the date on your Plan page. Until your next charge nothing changes and your chapters stay covered. From that charge each chapter pays for its own plan, your body goes back to $1 a month for each chapter using renuzy (A$1.50 in Australia), and the chapters' officers are told.
If your body cancels its own plan, your chapters stay covered to the end of the period you have paid for, then each pays for itself, and they are told. Press Keep my plan before then and they are covered again. If you leave Stripe's page without paying, nothing changes and you can start again.
