Stripe payouts and fees

Copy each Stripe payout in: the day it reached the bank, the amount, and the fees. Then the fees and the payout land in your books too.

When a member pays by card, Stripe holds the money for a few days, takes its fee, and pays the rest to your bank. renuzy cannot read those payouts from Stripe yet, so you copy them in. It takes a minute a month.

  1. Open Stripe's payouts page and click a payout.
  2. Note the day it arrived, the amount paid to your bank, and the fees.
  3. In renuzy, go to Accounting, and under Stripe payouts and fees type the day, the amount to the bank and the fees. The payout id is optional; it helps you find it again.
  4. Press Add payout. If you made a mistake, press Remove and add it again.

In the files, a payout moves the money from Undeposited Funds to your bank, and the fee goes to Bank Fees. So the money members paid shows in full as income, and the fee shows as a cost, the way an accountant wants it.

Cash and checks work the same way through the monthly close: when you note the day a batch went to the bank, the files move it from Undeposited Funds to your bank.
