Importing into Xero
The manual journal file through Manual journals, Import; or the bank statement through Import a statement. Add account codes first.
Xero finds accounts by their code. Before the first import, go to Accounting in renuzy and type the code for each account, copied from Xero's Accounting, Chart of accounts. Use either the journal file or the statement file, never both for the same month.
The manual journal file (recommended)
- In renuzy, go to Accounting, choose the month and download Xero: manual journals.
- In Xero, go to Accounting, then Manual journals (under Advanced on some screens).
- Click Import, choose the file, and click Import again.
- Xero shows the journals as drafts. Open one and check the accounts and amounts.
- Post them: tick the drafts and click Post.
Each day with money is one journal. A positive amount is a debit and a negative amount is a credit, which is how Xero reads them.
The bank statement file
- In Xero, add a bank account to hold the money that has not reached your bank, for example renuzy clearing, and use that name in renuzy for Money not yet in the bank.
- In renuzy, download Xero: bank statement.
- In Xero, go to Accounting, Bank accounts, find renuzy clearing, and choose Manage account, then Import a statement.
- Choose the file and click Import. Match Date, Amount, Payee, Description and Reference if Xero asks, and say the dates are month first.
- Reconcile the lines as usual. Xero takes up to 500 lines a file; a year for a large club may need four quarter files instead.
