Gift receipts
Every gift gets an email receipt with the amount and date. For a 501(c)(3), the receipt carries the lines the IRS asks for.
The receipt goes as your club, once, when the money has arrived. It shows the amount, the date, the fund and how it was paid.
If you tick Our club is a 501(c)(3) organization and fill in your legal name and EIN, receipts also:
- say your club is a 501(c)(3) and give the EIN;
- for a gift of $250 or more, say that no goods or services were given in exchange;
- for a payment over $75 that was partly for something of value, say what it was and what it was worth, and how much of the payment was a gift. When a gift comes with dues, the membership is what was received, valued at the dues paid. For a check gift that came with, say, a dinner seat, type its value when you record it.
renuzy prints what you tell it. It does not decide whether a gift is deductible. If you are not sure whether your club is a 501(c)(3), or what something is worth, ask your accountant before you tick the box.
